Academy News (Dec 2019)
We’re just a few days away from 2020 and Star Soccer & Star Futsal has some exciting plans for the next 12 months.
Saturday Development Centre @ Markfield
From January 11th we will be opening brand new development centre at South Charnwood High School Markfield.
The opening is marks Star Soccer Academy partnering Glenfield United FC and we will run their Academy.
Through consultation with the football club we have moved the Academy indoors until the middle of March
- Glenfield United FC Academy (U5s & U6s) – 10:00am – 11:00am
- Star Soccer Academy (U7s to U11s) 11:00am – 12:00pm
We’re delighted to be given the chance to partner a high profile grassroots club and our aim is to create two under 7s teams each season via the Academy.
The centre moves from Ellis Park to Markfield as the venue gives us greater flexibility, Glenfield United are partner club with South Charnwood High School and the venue is used for training and matches by existing teams within the club.
The 11:00am to 12:00pm session is an open to any player (boys & girls) that is either looking for extra training or wanting to try football. The centre will offer a pathway into Glenfield United is spaces in the teams are available and we will be looking to help the football club create girls teams.
The opening of the centre gives us greater flexibility in the area with the LFE Centre on Tuesdays
You can book at free taster session on the 11th January by clicking on the button below.
Open Futsal Training Sessions (Under 7s & Under 8s)
Starting on Monday January 6th at Groby Learning Camp we will be offering an initial 16 week block of Futsal training sessions.
- 6:00pm – 7:00pm under 7s & 8s
These training sessions will be Futsal specific focusing on three key areas:
Technical – Players will learn the core skills used to play futsal which are fundamentally different to football.
Tactical – Players will initially learn rules of the sport, then we plan to progress the understanding into specific futsal related tactics.
Match Situations – Each week players will have the opportunity to put into practice what they’re learning via internal match.
Star Futsal Philosophy
We firmly believe in futsal for developing talented futsal players in the future
Futsal For Futsal then Futsal For Football
Players starting their Futsal journey in foundation phase will have the opportunity to expand their skills toolbox beyond the skill set mastered by just playing football.
Star Futsal Teams
We have plans to form teams for the 2020/21 season and have already formed an under 9s team that has been playing in various futsal festivals.
Our plan is to have two teams in each age group starting from under 9s
- Star Futsal
- Star Futsal Performance
Star Futsal Performance Teams will be mixture of players from two age groups.
Example: Star Futsal Performance U9s will have under 9s & Under 8s players.
The players playing up a year will consistent of the very best players from the Star Futsal team (under 8s in this example).
The under 8s will not be entered in the league but will play in Futsal Festivals and have friendly matches throughout next season.
We have limited spaces available for the initial block of sessions and you can book on the 1st session by clicking the button below.
Star Futsal Under 9s
We have 4 spaces available to train with our under 9s at Fullhurst College Wednesday evenings and the next block of sessions start on 8th January
The extra spaces are so we can take two teams to play in festivals so more players can get involved. Book a free taster via the button below.
Starting January we will be forming the player development profiles with a series of assessments. This is part of the wider development plan for Star Soccer Academy as we look to establish ourselves as the leading private football academy in the county.
Once players have been assessed feedback will be given to parents and coaches will be given an individual development brief to improve each players technical ability & tactical knowledge.
We feel too many football academies focus too much on technical and players have very little understanding how to use them in match situations.
