As An Academy Player

If you get selected to our Academy Squad you can expect to benefit from the following.

• Personalized Development: Tailored approach ensures each player receives focused attention to address specific strengths and areas for improvement.

What Level Of Player?

This is for players that want to play at the highest level on Saturday mornings, we class our Academy Squads above the Sunday Grassroots Teams.

The 2 Week Trial

The 2 week trial is completely free and if successful you will be invited back to play in a final trial match

The Selection Process

Players are selected on number elements beyond their technical ability, such as football IQ, attitude to work hard in training and matches.

Also target positions play a part in the selection process in the older age groups, such as requiring left footed players

Within the framework of brilliant basics, prioritizing the technical ball mastery development and improvement of decision making is crucial, especially for young players.

Players also have the opportunity to extend their technical development by joining our hugely success Futsal Academy.

Players will be encouraged to express themselves in both training and games, with little emphasis placed on the outcome of the games.

This learning environment will hopefully lay the foundation for players who are confident, technically strong and self-motivated to succeed.

Brilliant Basics

During this phase of development, we are looking for players to transfer their technical skills developed in the foundation phase, into the bigger game.

With less touches on the ball, more emphasis will be around what players do away from the ball to affect the game, both in attack, defence and transition.

Decision making will become more complex but we still want players to express themselves without fear of failure and the pressure of winning or losing.

The framework of brilliant basics is continued and players technical skills are fine tuned to ensure they using the correct technique in practices and matches.

Preparation for YDP

Developing Their Football IQ

During this phase players will need different levels of understanding of some positions but begin to specialise in a specific role within the team.

Having experienced this phase of development players will hopefully be confident to make decisions and solve problems, understand the importance of their role in the team and that success can only be achieved through working together.

Their football IQ will be developed with the core principles of play together with learning the tactical DNA of Star and how we play as an Academy.

During this stage the players will be supported with Strength & Conditioning schedule.
